The title of this track has long been a mystery to those who have known it, and now, 17 years later, I can reveal that it is named after my bass clarinet himself, who I named Quince. These instruments are so special, have such an amazing sound and such unique personalities that they deserve their own names. Not only did owning my very own low C professional orchestral Buffet Prestige 1193 bass clarinet upgrade my approach to my clarinet training, it completely re-crafted my approach to music, creating, composing and interfacing with the world.

This song is essentially the riff that my bass clarinet wanted to play, and the upper melody and form were designed to give shape to this riff.
